Smithers Businesses Score with Imagination and Spirit by celebrating the Canucks and Hamhuis
All over town the message is clear -- Smithers supports hockey and is "honking for hamhuis", and besides the imaginative window decor celebrating the "Go Canucks Go" message, merchants downtown are planning to Block off Main for a big screen hockey show Wednesday night. They're inviting everyone to come on down, bring your lawnchairs and watch the game together, Smithers-style.
Totem Audio has agreed to have a big screen outside for people to watch Game 4 of the Stanley Cup! Sponsored by the Downtown Merchants and Totem Audio, along with messages on the Peak the merchants encourage everyone to join them between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue between 4:30 pm until the game is over to watch and cheer on the Canucks.
Other celebrations of our provincial team and hometown hero include Nature's Pantry inviting local businesses to join them in a campaign intended to raise funds for Hamhuis' favourite cause. For the duration of the Canuck's playoff run Nature's Pantry will donate 2% of sales to #2's Charity of Choice. While 2% from an individual business is not a large amount, imagine what could collectively be raised with many businesses joining in for the 2 for 2 event and funds will be retroactive from the start of the final. Ali at Nature's Pantry says "Let's put all of our town pride to a good cause and do Hamhuis as proud as he has done us. Go Canucks, Go Smithers!
